To succeed as a full-time Police Officer with American Fork City, candidates must possess a strong foundation of skills and qualifications. A high school diploma and "basic certification" through Utah P.O.S.T. are essential, along with current enrollment in the Police Academy or active employment at a Utah law enforcement agency. Proficiency in modern law enforcement principles, interrogation techniques, and crisis management is crucial. Candidates should be well-versed in applicable Federal, State, County, and City laws, as well as methods of arrest and emergency vehicle operations.
Required skills include the effective use of firearms, less-lethal weapons, and police equipment, as well as interviewing methods for victims, witnesses, and suspects. The ability to react effectively under pressure, demonstrate problem-solving skills, and maintain physical fitness is vital. Graduation from high school and "basic certification" through Utah P.or currently enrolled in the Police Academy. OR is currently employed at a Utah law enforcement agency.
Must maintain law enforcement certification by completing annual training requirements in the department.
