HR Manager (Part-Time | Approximately 20 Hours/Week) Join Tea and Help Shape an Exceptional Employee Experience At Tea, we believe our people are at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for an experienced, collaborative, and hands‑on HR Manager to help create an exceptional employee experience while supporting our growing business.
Reporting to the Head of Finance & Human Resources, you'll serve as a trusted partner to employees and managers, providing guidance across the full employee lifecycle while helping cultivate an engaging, compliant, and high-performing workplace. This role blends strategic partnership with hands‑on execution, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, coaching leaders, solving people challenges, and improving HR programs and processes.
What You'll Do As our HR Manager, you'll partner with leaders across the organization to support our people, strengthen our culture, and ensure a positive employee experience. Serving as a trusted advisor to employees and managers by providing practical guidance on employee relations, workplace concerns, performance management, coaching, HR policies, and best practices.
Partnering with managers to navigate employee performance, feedback conversations, accommodations, investigations, conflict resolution, and other employee lifecycle matters, escalating complex issues when appropriate.
Supporting employees throughout the full employee lifecycle - from recruiting and onboarding through development, engagement, and offboarding.
Owning recruiting activities and creating an outstanding candidate and new hire experience.
Managing HR operations, employee records, HRIS, compliance, benefits administration, and employment processes with accuracy and attention to detail.
Supporting key annual / quarterly /monthly people programs, including performance reviews, employee engagement surveys, learning and development initiatives, merit cycles, Employee Recognition programs, and Open Enrollment.
Helping foster Tea's collaborative culture through employee recognition, company events, internal communications, and employee engagement initiatives.
Identifying opportunities to improve HR processes, streamline operations, and enhance the employee experience while ensuring compliance with California employment laws and HR best practices.
What You Bring You're an experienced HR professional who enjoys partnering with people at all levels of an organization. You enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and helping managers and employees succeed.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field
8-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience supporting the full employee lifecycle
Strong working knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices
Experience partnering directly with managers to provide coaching, employee relations support, performance management guidance, and practical HR solutions
Experience with recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and employee engagement programs
Experience with HRIS platforms; SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification is a plus
You enjoy coaching managers and helping employees navigate workplace challenges.
You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
You have a collaborative, customer-service mindset and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team.

This is a part-time averaging approximately 20 hours per week, generally scheduled Monday-Thursday, with flexibility based on business needs. We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of an in‑person, collaborative culture and can work onsite four days per week in our Emeryville office, and remote as needed.
