We currently offer an opportunity for a PRN, weekdays, Chaplain to support adult patients and families in Cleveland.

Provide effective spiritual support that contributes to the wellbeing of each patient, family member, visitor, volunteer, or employee

Acts as an integral part of the health care team, including interacting with nursing, medical, and support staff to ensure that the appropriate levels of service are met/delivered in a timely manner.

Provide spiritual care that respects diversity, relative to differences in race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, philosophies, religious perspectives etc.

Advocate for patients by educating staff about specific religious, spiritual or cultural needs and issues of patients and families which affect their care and treatment.

Establish trusted spiritual care relationships with empathy, openness, and respect

Assists with the planning/implementation of services that provide spiritual support to the organization and community.

Complies with all policies and standards.

Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Master's Degree Related Field of Study from accredited theological seminary (Required)

Completion of 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (Required)

BCCI) through the Association of Professional Chaplains, the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or a similar group with the goal of obtaining certification (Preferred within 2 Years)

Ecclesiastical Endorsement or Ordination/Commissioning (Required)

Work Experience

3+ years experience providing spiritual care in clinical hospital setting (Preferred)

Experience with end-of-life, trauma, bereavement, pediatric or adult care (Preferred)

Working knowledge of Windows Operating System

Documents all visits and calls in the electronic medical record within the appropriate timeframe

Crisis intervention, spiritual care, spiritual assessment, problem solving, critical thinking

Ability to provide spiritual leadership and consultation in a high stress environment; This Chaplain role is a clinical service providing last rights, end of life support and family services during profoundly challenging life events for our adult patients and families, located in our Seidman Cancer Center. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ experience providing spiritual care in a clinical hospital setting, as well as experience with end-of-life, trauma, or bereavement. Must have a master’s degree from an accredited theological seminary, at least 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education, and have an Ecclesiastical Endorsement or have Ordination/Commissioning. This position is for PRN.
