Position Overview
Join a dedicated team in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located in Overland Park, KS. Our unit specializes in providing care for patients experiencing moderate physiological instability, particularly those with cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
Unit Specifics
Number of Beds: 18
Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
Staffing: 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and 1 Unit Secretary
Type of Equipment: Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, Pyxis systems, and computers in every room
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling Requirements
Self-scheduling with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
No on-call requirements

Staff may float as follows:

Required Certifications
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Unit Guidelines
Please refer to the unit-specific policies and guidelines for patient care standards and performance expectations.
Position Requirements
Must possess current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Ability to monitor patients requiring cardiac and respiratory management every 2-4 hours.
Experience caring for patients with COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, CHF, and tracheostomy needs.
Nursing Interventions
Responsibilities include:
Oxygen therapy including Nasal Cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and AirVo.
Vital signs monitoring every 4 hours.
Continuous cardiac monitoring.
Blood glucose monitoring every 4 hours.
Neurological assessments with NIHSS as needed.
