Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio for an adult population (pediatric patients aged 15 and older on rare occasions)
Monitor and manage patients with common diagnoses including CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, subdural hematoma, and generalized weakness
Administer and manage common drips and medications including PCA pumps, Cardizem, and insulin
Perform telemetry monitoring and respond appropriately to cardiac changes
Conduct hourly rounding and maintain a strong focus on patient responsiveness and experience
Float to medical-surgical areas as needed based on unit census and staffing requirements
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure in good standing
Current ACLS and BLS certifications
Telemetry competency
Proficiency with EPIC EMR
Experience operating Alaris IV pumps
Ability to comply with facility infection control policies, including prohibition of artificial nails in all patient care areas
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care nursing experience
Familiarity with PCA pump management and cardiac drip administration
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced unit effectively
