Mechanical Equipment Engineer ITotal Compensation Salary Range: $84,000- $98,000/yearAll applicants must comply with ITAR Requirements. US Citizens or Permanent Residents onlySummary: A member of the equipment engineering group, the Mechanical Equipment Engineer I is responsible for supporting design and analysis of machinery and mechanical systems, including preventive and reliability-focused maintenance. Effectively applies engineering technology to analyze equipment and, when appropriate, works to increase equipment life and reliability through design changes. This role also assists with setting standards/requirements for new equipment. The Mechanical Equipment Engineer Level I will need to focus in one specialization and proficient in one Focus Area.This role reports to the Manager – Mechanical Equipment Engineering reporting in our Paramount, California facility but travel to other facilities as required.As a key member of Weber Metals your duties include but are not limited to:Participate in team related activities (departmental & global), as well as ISO Auditing as requested.Supportive role to ensure or exceed compliance in all environmental, safety and security areas.Work in a team environment and meet target dates, report to work on time, with the proper PPE, and be fully engaged for the entire shift.Supportive role in annual shutdowns for plant maintenance which may include working during weekends and holidays.Major Job Duties:Mechanical Equipment Engineering Core: (performs in a responsible role of the following:)Monitoring, evaluating & improving equipment performance.Generating and presenting technical reports to management.Generating equipment recommendations to improve manufacturing processes.Providing technical expertise to mechanics, technicians, and plant engineers on new projects.Developing and updating equipment standards for existing and future equipment.Investigates root cause to chronic equipment failures and recommend cost effective solutions.Reviewing equipment drawings for the purpose of minimizing equipment failure, efficiency improvement and equipment implementation.Providing recommendations and solutions of analysis and repairs strategy and direction.Generating schematics and drawings as required.Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment problems.Create and maintain equipment risk assessments.Ensure codes and standards for equipment are enforced (ie. NEC, UL, NEMA, etc.)The Mechanical Equipment Engineer will focus on one specialization as a lead and one specialization as responsible, along with demonstrating proficiency in one focus area.I. Mechanical Hands on Specialization:Responsible for working with maintenance on diagnosing and resolving mechanical issuesResponsible for hand on experience of working on machines as requiredResponsible for developing system to help document repairs and informationResponsible for reverse engineering of obsolete partsResponsible for replacement crossover of obsolete parts on equipmentResponsible for developing spare parts listResponsible for conducting periodic inspection with maintenance group for potential system upgrades and recommended changesResponsible for researching information and specs for equipment partsResponsible for blueprint data base accuracy and upkeepHydraulic Engineering Specialization Skills: Read and understand hydraulics schematics Knowledge of Troubleshooting hydraulic systems and Servo/Proportional Valve controls Preferred knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical systemII.
