As a Cook, you will:

Prepare and serve food that meets standards for taste, appearance, texture, quality, and food safety.

Follow daily menus and recipes and prepare food according to established guidelines.

Prepare meals that meet the individual dietary needs of residents, including special tray requirements.

Monitor and accurately record food temperatures for each meal.

Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work area and properly clean and sanitize equipment.

Keep refrigerators and freezers clean, organized, and properly labeled.

Bring required food and supplies to the kitchen for daily meal preparation.

Assist with food preparation and cooking for special events.

Monitor kitchen equipment and promptly report non-functioning equipment to the appropriate departments.

Review upcoming menus and help prepare for the next day's meals.

Work independently and cooperatively with other members of the Food Service team.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.

Misericordia provides training and professional development opportunities to help you succeed in your role.

If you do not already have a Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate, you must be able to obtain one within 6 months of employment.

Pay

$22 per hour plus benefits

Schedule

Full-time AM shift

Some schedule flexibility required

What we're looking for

At least 6 months of experience as a cook or chef

Line cook experience preferred

High school diploma or GED required

Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate, or ability to obtain one within 6 months

Knowledge of food service equipment and its proper use

Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong attention to food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation

Dependability and attention to detail

Ability to work an AM shift and weekends
