The role is responsible for the application of approved microbiological techniques and methodologies used in analytical testing.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in microbial challenge testing of new products to determine adequacy of preservation.Bioburden panel testing, water testing, environmental testing (ie air plates, swabs, conductivity)Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload.Inventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirementsProvide routine preventive maintenance by daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposalPerform quality control monitoring by taking incubator temperatures, inoculating control organisms, running media controls, etc.Maintain laboratory condition, to include equipment, suppliesPerform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient mannerPrepare media for microbial quality and preservative adequacy testing.Document media preparation and media control information in appropriate logbooks.Maintain appropriate notebooks and computer logs required for the department.Organize the destruction of product discards and assist with special projects.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:BS degree in microbiology or related field with 2-3 years of lab experience.At minimum, 1 or more years of Quality Assurance or Microbiological testing experience in the cosmetic, nutritional, or pharmaceutical industriesAble to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.PHYSICAL DEMANDSDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer componentsPotential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogensNoise level varies from quiet to loudTemperature varies from hot to coldInteractive and fast-paced team oriented tasksOccasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Color vision and depth perceptionBenefits:Progressive 401k Retirement Savings PlanEmployer Paid Short- Term and Long-Term Disability, and Life InsuranceGroup MedicalTuition ReimbursementFlexible Spending AccountsDentalPaid Holidays and Time OffMany positions which qualify for the company bonus programCertified Group values diversity in its workforce.
