This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. The candidate must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. The position may require travel to support projects, estimated at 25%.Key ResponsibilitiesHave experience with nuclear system design, working with Safety Class or Safety Significant systems and working under a NQA-1 program, or have experience with energetics or explosives system design (synthesis, handling, mixing, and charging)Have experience applying nuclear, chemical or explosive-safety requirements into designsHave experience in project execution, from initial process studies, support of project cost estimates, through detailed design into EPC project executionHave a clear understanding of the steps of project development (e.g. front-end engineering design) and level of detail required in each step of project developmentIndependently develop PFDs, P&IDs, complete equipment sizing and specifications, develop instrument process data and specificationsDemonstrate leadership ability at the discipline level on a multidiscipline project teamDevelop process models with commercially available programs (Aspen, Hysys, ChemCAD) or by building custom models in ExcelSupport business development efforts by developing engineering estimates and supporting proposal developmentCoordinate with and guide junior staff, with mentorship responsibilities at the senior levelRequired SkillsExpert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and proceduresStrong knowledge of process design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE)Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members; ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environmentDemonstrated critical thinking skills; ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environmentStrong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skillsAbility to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specificationsAbility to travelMust be able to obtain and maintain a DoE or DoD Security ClearanceDOE and/or DOD project experienceExperience working under NQA-1 programsBackground in nuclear facility designAbility to mentor and guide junior engineersRequired Experience7 years of process engineering experience (with Bachelor's Degree pathway) or 6 years of process engineering experience (with Master's Degree pathway)Experience in project execution, from initial process studies and project cost estimates through detailed design into EPC project executionImportant NotesSecurity Clearance is not required at the start of the engagement; however, the candidate must be eligible and able to obtain a DoE or DoD Security Clearance if required based on project requirements.This role may be extended or converted to a full-time employee (FTE) for the right candidate.About the ClientInfrastructure engineering firm designing and building essential city infrastructure since 1898.About GTTGTT is a minority-owned staffing firm and a subsidiary of Chenega Corporation, a Native American-owned company in Alaska.
