Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of inpatient nursing experience required.
2 years of oncology experience preferred, but not required.
License:
Valid state nursing license required.
Certifications:
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
Must-Have:
Current acute care experience in a medical surgical setting.
Competence in managing high-acuity patients.
Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
Description:
Caring for medical oncology patients in a mixed acuity environment.
Unit accommodates approximately 48 beds.
High acuity patient population with a range of diagnoses from solid tumors to some blood cancers.
Chemotherapy competence is not required, but training opportunities are available.
Pediatric patients are extremely rare on this unit and care is primarily provided by permanent staff.
Heavy focus on infection prevention and patient falls.
Special procedures may include bladder scanning and continuous bladder irrigation.
Monitoring systems include telemetry and PCA pumps.
Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy and social services.
Staffing ratios aim for 1:4-5 but may vary based on unit needs. About Cynet Health
