With over 250 physicians, 220 nurse practitioners and physician assistants and nearly 100 locations in our network. We are recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) with a national Clinical Trials Participation Award, FCS offers patients access to more clinical trials than any private oncology practice in Florida. Our patients have access to ground-breaking therapies, in a community setting, and may participate in national clinical research studies of drugs and treatment protocols. S. were studied in clinical trials with FCS participation prior to approval.
Through our partnership with Sarah Cannon, we are one of the largest clinical research organizations in the United States. Often, FCS leads the nation in initiating research studies and offering ground-breaking new therapies to patients.
Assists physician in the care and teaching of patients.
o Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
o Write prescriptions for: medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and care post-discharge in accordance with written practice protocols.
o Based on findings, determine eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials.
o Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
o Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response and plan.
o Assist in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patients' care.
o Conduct or participate in daily multi-disciplinary rounds for assigned patients to ensure patients are receiving appropriate and quality care.
o Provide on-call coverage and performs hospital rounds as needed.
o Triage patients to determine urgency of physician evaluation.
o Document and reports care in an accurate, timely manner using appropriate forms and records.
o Demonstrate a willingness to learn and to remain flexible in the changing health care environment.
o Assist staff in times of crisis or emergency.
Adheres to FCS and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan.
o Maintain all company equipment in a safe and working manner.
o Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
o Will be expected to work at any FCS location to help meet FCS business needs as directed by collaborating physician.
o Will be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.
o Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master's degree in nursing or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program
o 9+ Years Licensed as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
o Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply
o Certification from American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation (ONCC).
Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patients' status, health care procedure / techniques and to monitor quality of patient care. o Analysis & Critical Thinking
o Comfortable negotiating problems and exploring solutions with physician population
