Quality Engineering Senior

Overview Your role: The Quality Engineer supports maintained compliance within their STC to ISO9001:2015, ISO14001, ISO45001 (or local equivalents) and Vacuum Technique Quality standards. The emphasis is on reliability, repeatability and safety to enable proactive continuous improvement and optimisation solutions. The Quality Engineer operates within their local STC Quality team and interfaces with all levels within the STC operational environment. The role provides transparency for quality-related issues that have global or local impact.

Responsibilities Support reduction of defective parts, process errors/inefficiencies and warranty costs.

Maintain compliance to ISO9001 Quality Management System and all applicable Excellence Quality Element Documents.

Support adherence to ISO14001 Environmental Management System, ISO45001 Health and Safety Management System, Vacuum Technique Quality Management System or local equivalents.

Support the Service Technology Centre Vacuum Technique Production System methodology with a strong focus on 6S and training.

Ensure on-time distribution of changes; communicate SIB briefing, SOP updates, GSG, ST updates located within SharePoint and service SBU.

Assist in training rollout of global quality standard processes and document improvement within the service technology centre within specified timelines when required.

Coordinate and report FRACAS (Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System).

Support Quality Assurance, test, failure analysis (FTTPR) and customer feedback non-conformances through Root Cause Analysis; manage the cycle from identification to effective closure, ensuring identified non-conformances are mitigated or stabilised. Relay non-conformances that cannot be solved within the service technology centre and assess impact locally or globally.

Participate in continuous improvement activities by supporting the service technology centre Quality Manager, including reviews and observations in internal and external customer audits; identify and execute corrective and permanent actions.

Support PFMEA activity to identify and mitigate potential risks using appropriate quality tools; support process reviews.

Contribute to calibration process activities as required.

Provide evidence to justify service technology centre warranty.

Requirements A degree / HND level qualification (or local equivalent) in Engineering or Quality discipline.

Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 QMS.

Experience in understanding engineering documents such as drawings; SOPs desirable.

Experience in instilling best practice within a manufacturing operational environment.

Analytical approach to continuous improvement, control and monitoring using qualitative and quantitative quality management tools and techniques desirable.

Experience/knowledge of validation and verification.

Experience/knowledge of calibration.

Proficiency with mechanical measurement tools.

Knowledge of Quality Function Deployment – the voice of the customer.

Experience in change management or understanding of change management processes.

Teamwork, active listening, communication, collaboration and empathy.

Experience and knowledge of manufacturing operations and processes (mechanical or electrical).

Knowledge and/or experience of Lean principles.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Power BI, Minitab, JMP desirable.

Proficiency in English – written and spoken.
