Morning - Full Time Janitor

Augustana University is seeking applications for a full-time, year-round custodian position on the day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. While previous experience is beneficial, it is not a requirement for this role.
The custodian plays a vital role in maintaining the campus buildings, contributing to a learning environment that promotes health, a positive attitude, and pride among students, faculty, and staff.
Major Areas of Responsibility:

Maintenance and Safety: Ensure the university is in good repair, maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment. Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions (e.g., grease/oil spills, sawdust, excess supplies).
Cleaning Schedules and Procedures: Follow daily cleaning schedules and procedures meticulously. Ensure work and assignment areas are clean and that tools, supplies, and equipment are properly stored.
Supplies and Equipment: Maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, minimizing waste and misuse.
Work Area Appearance: Maintain the appearance of work areas.
Chemical Handling: Use and handle chemicals, compounds, and solvents according to OSHA guidelines, adhering to all established safety procedures and precautions.
Infection Control: Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions practices during housekeeping procedures.
General Cleaning: Vacuum, dust, and clean glass surfaces.
Restrooms and Laundries: Clean public restrooms, laundries, and theme houses.
Supplies Management: Pick up and deliver supplies and materials as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
Ability to interact tactfully with personnel, students, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
