Registered Nurse - Per Diem

Responsibilities

Maintain competencies and be cross‑trained, ensuring staff coverage for census fluctuations or required periods of replacement.

Assume the professional clinical responsibilities outlined in the job description and meet the position‑specific requirements of the assigned clinical area.

Provide flexible staffing to meet patient care needs, following CRC Guidelines and Expectations.

Interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and non‑invasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms and trends, and initiate appropriate interventions.

Attend in‑house codes and rapid response calls as required.

Care for patients with complex needs, including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients.

Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters, and arterial lines.

Use less invasive, life‑supporting modalities safely (e.g., BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure‑based CO/CI & SVO2 monitoring, core temperature monitoring).

Work the 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. shift.

Qualifications

1–2 years of critical care experience, preferably in Intensive Care Unit, Step‑Down, Stem Cell, or Emergency Department settings.

Telemetry competency: ability to read and operate cardiac monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, and initiate appropriate interventions.

Graduate of an accredited nursing school (NLNAC or CCNE) and licensed in the state of Illinois.

Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association while employed.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, as appropriate for the population served.

ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification within 6–12 months of hire.
