Instructional Designer

Work Model: Hybrid (Onsite 2-3 days/week)

Hourly Rate: $55.00-$65.00

Must Have Skills/Attributes: MS Excel, MS Office, MS Word

Experience Desired: 3+ years developing instructor‑led training and on‑the‑job tasks for technical skills; 3+ years of adult learning theory and instructional design; 3+ years of Technical Training (Instructor‑Led, not e‑learning)

Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

3+ years’ experience developing instructor‑led training and on‑the‑job tasks for technical skills

Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design and methodologies

Proven experience performing task analysis

Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams

Experience with Technical Training (Instructor‑Led, not e‑learning)

Proficiency with MS Office tools (PPT, etc.)

Experience with creating job aids and technical writing skills

Excellent communication, writing and time management skills

Experience developing multi‑year technical training programs for adult learners

Experience with QuestionMark, Author‑It, and/or Storyline

Excellent analysis skills

Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Instructional Designer Job Responsibilities

Design and develop instructor‑led and on‑the‑job training for apprenticeships in the utilities industry

Leverage and apply established instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training

Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands‑on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media

Perform a detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed

Partner with cross‑functional teams to conceptualize training design and content

Define learning objectives, and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment

Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates

Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts appropriate for the target audience

Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation

Proactively communicate issues and risks

Monthly to quarterly travel is required to Client locations

Occasional overnight stays may be necessary to support client meetings and project milestones
