Job Summary: The Medication Aide II administers medication ensuring the "5 Rights" of medication administration are followed at all times and monitors the consumption of all medications administered to the patient. The Medication Aide assists in the administration of oral and topical medications as directed and prescribed by the health care practitioner and assists in the clinical care of patients as directed by the professional nurse and prescribed by the health care practitioner.

Documents the administered medication on the patient's medication administration record (MAR).

• Notifies mental health staff if a mental health patient refuses medication for three consecutive days.
• Acts as health care team member.
• Maintains positive and effective relationships with patients, family members, co-workers, Sheriff's Department staff and other Network and contract employees.
• Successful completion of Medication Aide Training Program.

• Current Medication Aide certificate issued by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.
• 4791 Medication Aide I: 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4792 Medication Aide II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4793 Medication Aide III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4794 Medication Aide IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
