Estimator -- Underground Utility Contractor

Heavy Civil Estimator
Highway and roadway construction, bridges and structures, large-scale site development, earthwork and mass excavation, underground utilities and drainage, asphalt paving, concrete construction, environmental and remediation work, public infrastructure, DOT and municipal projects.
Our client is seeking a Heavy Civil Estimator with 5+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience to join our team. We're looking for an estimator who understands how heavy civil projects are built, not simply how to put together a bid. This position reports to the Chief Estimator and will work closely with Operations, Project Management and company leadership on active pursuits.
Review plans, specifications, addenda and contract documents
Price labor, materials, equipment, trucking and subcontractor work
Solicit, analyze and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing
Evaluate project scope, risks, constructability and means/methods
Develop competitive bids, bid schedules and proposal documents
Attend pre-bid meetings and project/site visits
Coordinate with Operations and Project Management on pricing and constructability
Experience pricing self-perform work, subcontractors, materials and equipment

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and attend required site visits and pre-bid meetings.

Highway, roadway, bridge, utility, sitework, paving, marine, rail/transit or environmental construction
Public works and DOT projects
Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field is a plus, but equivalent heavy civil experience will be considered.

Strong analytical and mathematical skills to assess project requirements and budgets.
Familiarity with construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
Proficiency in relevant software tools such as estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a busy environment.
