Job Overview This position supports payroll operations for MaineDOT, assisting with payroll processing, data entry, and assigned projects. Additional duties involve administrative and human resource–related tasks such as scanning documents, maintaining human resource records, and working within systems unique to MaineDOT.
Responsibilities Assist with payroll processing and data entry, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage a variety of administrative tasks related to human resources and payroll systems.
Provide strong customer service to employees, supervisors, managers, and other State government entities.
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail in all work.
Use organizational skills to meet strict deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Apply state human resource rules, policies, and procedures to routine matters and support higher‑level professionals on more complex issues.
Minimum Qualifications Education, training, and/or experience providing a basic knowledge and understanding of human resource functions.
Benefits & Compensation Work‑Life Fit: 13 paid holidays and 3+ weeks of vacation leave annually, with vacation accrual increasing with years of service. Overtime‑exempt employees receive personal leave.
Wellness: 12 days of sick leave annually.
Health Insurance Coverage: State of Maine pays 85%–95% of employee‑only premiums ($11,196.96 – $12,514.32 annual value), with a premium cost chart available for employee and family coverage options.
Dental Insurance: State pays 100% of employee‑only premiums ($358.08 annual value).
Retirement Plan: State contributes an equivalent of 18.91% of pay toward the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS).
Benefits may vary by collective bargaining agreements and are prorated for part‑time work.
