Head of Facilities (Full-Time)

You enter a campus and immediately spot the issue: a ceiling tile hanging loose that no one documented, an HVAC return making noise for days, a landscaping contractor who delivered partial work yet submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for complaints to surface. You resolve problems before they're noticed.

This awareness defines the role. Alpha runs premium K–12 campuses where families expect an environment that remains safe, consistent, and ready for tours at all times—not just during scheduled events. You will uphold that expectation throughout the Northwest: based primarily at the San Francisco Bay Area campus, with routine travel to schools across CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, and ID. Your efforts determine whether a campus maintains its premium feel or slowly deteriorates between leadership visits.

Year one focuses on establishing standards and vendor accountability: defining what "ready" means, building audit routines, removing underperforming vendors, and training Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to follow a consistent operating model. As the region expands and your processes mature, the role transitions into regional leadership at scale. You become the operator the network calls when launching a new campus, managing an emergency, or revising a standard.

What You Will Be Doing

Running scheduled on-site audits at Northwest campuses, evaluating documented standards for cleanliness, HVAC, safety, security, signage, landscaping, furniture, and tour-readiness, then ensuring corrective actions are completed and verified.

Responding to facilities issues and emergencies, coordinating vendors and campus teams, and confirming resolution before closing tickets (urgent within 24 hours, routine within one week).

Overseeing local vendor performance against SLAs, removing vendors who consistently fail, renegotiating agreements, and conducting direct accountability discussions on quality and cost.

Establishing a weekly operating cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists, including clear written updates on regional quality, vendor performance, escalations, and CapEx tracking.

Overseeing major campus improvements and building global standards and AI-powered procurement frameworks to ensure consistent campus launch and operations.

What You Won’t Be Doing

Operating remotely from a dashboard. This position demands regular in-person presence at the Bay Area campus and 30–50% travel to regional locations in CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, and ID.

Designing campuses from the ground up or managing new construction projects. Capital expansion is handled by a separate team.

Creating enterprise procurement strategy disconnected from field operations. Your standards emerge from direct site observation.

Working within clean organizational hierarchies with direct authority over everyone your work depends on. You'll create accountability through clarity, written documentation, and rejecting ambiguous vendor commitments.

Accepting a model where campuses are only tour-ready for leadership visits, or treating constant firefighting as the standard way of operating.

Multi-Site Facilities Manager Key Responsibilities

Maintain every Northwest region campus as safe, premium, and tour-ready every single day.

Basic Requirements

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area (strongly preferred), or another Northwest location: CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, or ID, with willingness to work primarily from the Bay Area campus and travel 30–50% regionally.

Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

5+ years managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or school operations.

Demonstrated success holding vendor-managed services accountable for quality, cost, and SLA compliance across multiple sites.

Hands-on experience addressing urgent facilities problems (safety, HVAC, security, cleanliness) with clear customer-experience outcomes.

Disciplined written operations practice: issue logs, escalation documentation, vendor tracking, weekly regional quality reporting.

Proven use of contemporary operations platforms (ticketing systems, IoT/predictive maintenance, AI-assisted procurement or planning).

Nice-to-have Requirements

Multi-site operations leadership in premium hospitality, luxury retail, private K–12, or healthcare networks serving demanding customers

Experience building or rehabilitating a regional operating model previously dependent on individual heroics rather than standardized processes

History of removing underperforming vendors and developing a reliable local vendor network

Experience managing capital improvement projects (HVAC, AV/networking, landscaping, interior upgrades) in active, customer-facing facilities

Familiarity with AI-first operations where playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks, allowing people to focus on decision-making
