Locksmith Part time

This position serves at the Charlie Norwood Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, GA. The position serves as the Journeyman Locksmith in a shop setting void of technical supervision with responsibility for continuity for shop operations, coordinating activities of the shop, and establishing work priorities.

DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT: This position requires a current, valid state driver's license. Do not upload a copy of your license at this time. If an interview is requested, you may be required to provide a copy of your current, valid, and unrestricted state driver's license.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The position requires common physical characteristics and abilities in agility and dexterity. The locksmith must also maintain a current vehicles operator's license to be able to respond and perform duties at both divisions of the medical center and any offsite properties. The incumbent may be required to work uncommon tours of duty or perform outdoors in inclement weather especially during hours of emergency as directed by the Chief of Police.

The work is performed in a variety of settings where regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and displeasure, high levels of noise in industrial/construction sites; temperature fluctuations in confined to open spaces; adverse weather. Duties may be required in both mechanical shops or constructions sites. The employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, gloves, boots, goggles, air‑breathers, etc. The work involves moderate risk requiring exercise of safety precautions when working near hazardous materials. There may be some exposure to toxic gases, explosives, infectious biological materials or others that may pose a risk of exposure. The work involves moderate risk and discomfort when working outdoors without shelter during major fluctuations in temperature for extended periods of time.
