As a Software Engineer III, you will build and enhance scalable backend services that power critical pharmacy platforms and customer experiences. You will develop APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features, and help ensure system reliability, performance, and security. You will participate in design discussions, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and production support while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The team values technical acumen, iterative development, and problem-solving to deliver reliable, secure, and efficient software solutions that support Walmart’s mission in healthcare.What you'll do:Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems that power Walmart Pharmacy platforms.Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.Contribute to CI/CD automation, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence initiatives.Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, and other coding assistants to accelerate feature development, automate repetitive tasks, generate tests, and improve code quality.Proficiency in applying AI-powered workflows for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and troubleshooting while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and maintainability.Experience developing scalable backend applications using Java, object-oriented programming, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and software quality best practices.Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor etc. to accelerate development, improve code quality, automate testing, and enhance engineering productivity.Proficiency in applying AI-powered workflows for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and troubleshooting while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and maintainability.At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet.
