Why this job is worth considering
This is a chance to run advanced milling work on Haas horizontal and vertical mills at a machine shop that's been machining custom graphite and carbon composite components in Lorain since 1971. You'll own the parts that need the most attention - 4th-axis and B-axis rotary work, complex G&M programming, tooling and fixture design - with room to mentor other operators and work directly with engineering on new jobs rather than just running canned programs. What you'll be doing
Set up and program B-axis/4th-axis rotary table work for complex, multi-sided parts
Independently set up and run Haas horizontal and vertical mills
Write and edit advanced G&M code, including cutter compensation and canned cycles
Design and build tooling and fixtures for new and recurring jobs
Collaborate with engineering on CAD/CAM programming for new parts
Train and mentor junior operators on the floor
Maintain and organize the shop's USB program library
Support sales and estimating with technical input on new work
Machines, controls and software
Haas horizontal and vertical milling centers, including 4th-axis/B-axis rotary tooling, running Haas controls. CAD/CAM collaboration is part of the role; no specific CAM package is required.
What we’re looking for
Required:
3+ years of CNC milling experience
High school diploma or GED
Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T
Own standard machinist hand tools and precision inspection equipment
U.S. citizenship
Comfortable in a manufacturing environment - dust, moderate noise, and lifting up to 70 lbs occasionally
Preferred:
7+ years of CNC milling experience (senior level)
Advanced G&M programming experience, including cutter compensation and canned cycles
B-axis/4th-axis rotary table setup and programming experience
Experience training or mentoring other machinists
CAD/CAM collaboration experience
Pay, benefits and schedule
$30-$38 per hour, based on experience. Full-time.
