Job Description Summary
Provides safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including but not limited to: patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with role. Provides triage care when necessary. Communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members.

Key Performance Areas
Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non‑oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers. Uses Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines. Accurately disposes of biohazardous waste per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines. Responsible for new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support.

Documentation: Thorough, accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered to patients. Ensures appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for the appropriate administration of all medications and activities. Follows proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters.

Teaching: Educates patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and planned treatment course. Interacts with patient and family in a caring, professional manner.

Telephone triage: Prioritizes incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non‑urgent and responds accordingly in an appropriate time frame.

Supplies: Assists with inventory and re‑stocking medical supplies, recommends purchase of new items as needed, places stock in storage areas in a timely manner.

Completes annual required safety and nursing trainings. Attends all mandatory staff meetings as necessary. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information. Assists in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs.

Will be expected to work at any company location to help meet the company’s business needs on an as‑needed basis, within reasonable expectations. Will also be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor and employment law. Adheres to company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan.

Education

Nursing Degree

Job Qualifications and Requirements

Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi‑state license

Current CPR and BLS certifications

Valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed

Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting

Ability to assess patient needs and condition; strong critical thinking skills; calm and effective response in emergency situations

Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills

Travel
Up to 25%

Standard Core Workdays/Hours
Monday to Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Occasional overtime may be required, and weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs.
