Paralegal (Temp, Remote)

Zurich North America’s Staff Legal Office is currently hiring a Paralegal II, General Liability to join their team! Under the supervision of an attorney, the successful candidate’s work will be in support of moderate to complex liability litigation cases (e.g. case work, research, discovery responses, subpoenas, etc.).

Designed with our employees' needs in mind, while facilitating in‑person connections and collaborative activities when meaningful and valuable, our hybrid model provides a high level of flexibility and autonomy, requiring in‑office attendance only once a week at our Irvine office.

Drafting legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents as directed

Providing legal support such as legal and documentary research

Monitoring and adhering to case schedules and filing deadlines

Conducting interviews, summarizing depositions, reviewing discovery responses and medical records

Scheduling Surveillance, Compulsory Medical Exams, and Site Inspections

Responding to inquiries from and interacting with customers, clients, counsel, and witnesses

Contributing to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed

Collaborating with attorneys, staff, claims professionals and leadership to accomplish successful business and litigation outcomes.

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area

Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area

Experience conducting electronic database research

Experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings

Experience in legal support

Experience with Microsoft Office

Paralegals must meet one of the following requirements: Have a paralegal certificate from an ABA‑approved program OR

Have a certificate from an accredited paralegal program with at least 24 semester units of law‑related courses OR

Have a bachelor's degree or higher and one year of law‑related experience under the supervision of a California‑licensed attorney who has been practicing for the past three years (or an attorney who has practiced in California federal courts for the past three years).

Ability to effectively conduct electronic database research, including Lexus Nexis

Ability to effectively draft legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings

Strong Microsoft Office and technical skills

Familiarity with litigation management software systems

Familiarity with California Rules of Civil Procedure and local Rules

Experience navigating Clerk, Court and Judicial websites

We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The proposed Salary range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 5%.
