Welder - Temporary (Night Shift)

EDUCATION PREFERRED - HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED***

NIGHT SHIFT - 4:00 PM TO 12:30 AM; OVERTIME MAY EXTEND TO THE END OF THE SHIFT RATHER THAN THE BEGINNING DUE TO EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY.

CAPABLE, WILLING, AND PROVEN TO WORK WITH MINIMAL SUPERVISION

• WILL REQUIRE A HIGHER DEGREE OF PERFORMANCE AND KNOWLEDGE AS THERE WILL BE MINIMAL SUPPORT FUNCTIONS AVAILABLE ON THE NIGHT SHIFT.
• PREVIOUS TIG/GTAW WELDING EXPERIENCE IS A HARD REQUIREMENT (MUST BE SHOWN ON RESUME)
• PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH SHEET METAL WELDING DOWN TO 20 GAUGE/ .STRUCTURAL WELDERS ARE TYPICALLY NOT A GOOD FIT
• MUST HAVE A GOOD RECORD OF COMPLETING QUALITY WELDS THAT LOOK AS SEAMLESS AS POSSIBLE AFTER FINISHING
• MUST HAVE IMMEDIATE AVAILABILITY TO START, IF SELECTED

NOV Cedar Park is recruiting for Temporary help in our Fab and Weld shop. The welder will be responsible for fitting, assembling, welding, and finishing precision sheet metal and fabricated components in support of production requirements. This position performs GTAW (TIG) welding as the primary welding process and is expected to produce high-quality work from engineering drawings, work instructions, and established quality standards. Perform fit-up, tack welding, GTAW (TIG) welding, grinding, and finishing operations.

• Weld thin-gauge sheet metal and fabricated assemblies down to .036" material thickness.
• Perform spot welding, stud welding, and robotic welding operations as required.
• Perform drilling, tapping, countersinking, and secondary fabrication operations.
• Inspect completed work for dimensional and visual compliance to drawing requirements.
• Accurately complete production documentation and work order transactions.
• Support production schedules and execute work according to established priorities.
• Perform routine operator preventive maintenance (PM) activities on assigned equipment.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and promptly report abnormalities, safety concerns, quality concerns, or maintenance issues.
• Maintain tools, fixtures, and equipment in good working condition.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Comply with all NOV company policies, including Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated GTAW (TIG) welding experience.
• Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication and assembly.
• Experience welding thin-gauge sheet metal.
• Experience with robotic welding operations.
• Experience with spot welding and stud welding.
• Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Overhead crane experience preferred.
• Ability to perform welding, fabrication, grinding, and finishing operations for extended periods of time.

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.

• Work involves frequent lifting of materials and products up to 40 pounds.
• Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment, including but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel-toed work boots, and hard hats.
• Works under immediate supervision.
