Primary Responsibilities

Assist in determining the suitability of donors

Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while maintaining donor confidentiality

Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions

Monitor donor and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality

Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines

Disconnect and dispose of all contaminated disposable equipment

Occupational Demands
Work is performed in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, electrical laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32 °F in a plasma freezer. Personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear is required. The job requires standing for 6 to 8 hours per day, bending and twisting the neck and waist for 1-2 hours per day, and frequent hand movements. Precise coordinated finger movements are needed for grasping and manipulating objects. Light lifting up to 15 lb with a maximum lift of 50 lb, reaching below shoulder height, and walking up to 6-8 hours per day. Visual acuity requirements include near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other. Employees must be able to comprehend and follow instructions, and to communicate sensitive information to diverse groups.
