Structural Engineering-Entry Level

Ayres’ structural engineers has proudly served the Florida Department of Transportation, Counties, Townships, and private clients for more than 50 years. We are seeking an individual who is eager to learn and has the desire to become a well‑rounded structural engineer. You will join a respected structural group who will provide you with opportunities to work on a variety of assignments. Your professional background has equipped you with the technical skills to be successful in design using different materials and codes and to gain hands‑on experience in assessing bridge element condition and designing retrofits.

On any given day you will:

Work under the supervision of senior structural engineering staff to design and prepare plans for bridges and other structures.

Perform structural design and analysis of steel or concrete structural elements utilizing structural software.

Prepare CADD drawings and check plan details.

Research and apply code requirements.

Prepare cost estimates, technical reports and specifications for bridges and other structures.

Assist the structural inspections group at times with field assignments, potentially requiring out‑of‑town travel and overnight stays.

Required qualifications:

A master’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering or a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of experience in the design, detailing, and analysis of steel and concrete bridges and other structures.

Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE).

Experience with drafting and various types of structural and highway design software.

Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
