Head of Payroll and Payroll Accounting

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, month‑end close, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and ERP-driven financial processes. This role provides leadership to the accounting team and delivers operational and financial analysis to support plant and corporate decision‑making.

Serve as primary backup for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll processing.

Prepare consolidated and corporate financial reports and required month-end schedules.

Manage physical inventory counts and reconciliations.

Lead cost accounting activities, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.

Develop and manage budgets and forecasts in partnership with Finance FP&A.

Support internal and external audits and ensure GAAP compliance.

Lead an Oracle ERP system implementation and enhancements.

Work on special projects for Finance and Accounting.

Initiate continuous improvements tasks to help enhance EBITDA.

Analyze financial trends and provide actionable insights to plant and corporate leadership.

Supervise, train, mentor, and develop accounting staff, when applicable.

Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and Microsoft 365 and BAAN.

Advanced Excel skills.

Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and internal controls.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility.

Experience in manufacturing and cost accounting is strongly preferred.

Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.

Occasional standing, walking, or moving about the office/warehouse.

Ability to lift or carry items up to 10–15 pounds (such as files, laptops, or office supplies).

Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.

Visual ability to read documents, screens, and reports.

Clear verbal communication for meetings, phone calls, and presentations.
