Position Overview
This role is for an experienced Intensive Care Registered Nurse at the Clinical Nurse II level, essential to delivering exceptional, patient-focused care within a high-acuity ICU setting. The position demands advanced clinical skills, specialized certifications, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal recovery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Patient Care:
Lead coordination of the interprofessional healthcare team to provide safe, efficient, and equitable care tailored to each patient.
Perform thorough patient assessments to identify individual needs and develop personalized care plans.
Monitor patient responses to interventions and adjust care plans promptly as necessary.
Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity and confidentiality at all times.
Evaluate the effectiveness of care delivered by the team and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes.
Promote evidence-based practices within the ICU environment.

Safety and Compliance:
Maintain a clean, safe work environment adhering to infection control and aseptic protocols.
Comply with regulatory standards including those set by The Joint Commission and OSHA.
Identify and report safety concerns, actively participating in systemic improvements.

Documentation:
Accurately document all care activities, patient progress, and incidents in the electronic medical record system.

Professional Development and Leadership:
Mentor and precept new nurses and students, supporting their growth and integration.
Engage in ongoing education, certifications, and quality improvement initiatives.
Act as a resource and advocate for best practices within the ICU team.
Assume charge nurse and Rapid Response Team roles as needed.

Emergency Preparedness:
Demonstrate decisive action and advanced clinical skills during critical events such as cardiac arrest.

Qualifications
Experience

Minimum of two years as a Registered Nurse in a high-acuity Intensive Care Unit or equivalent step-down critical care setting.
Proven ability to manage complex patient cases effectively.
Education

~ Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years ICU experience considered.

Licenses and Certifications

Current Registered Nurse license valid in the applicable state.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred.
Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) or equivalent certification is advantageous.
