Head of Fundraising & Philanthropy

POSITION SUMMARY Provides strategic leadership for the Museum’s individual giving program by overseeing annual giving, managing a portfolio of leadership donors, supervising donor engagement functions, and advancing long-term philanthropic growth through meaningful donor relationships and signature fundraising initiatives.

Lead the Museum’s individual giving program through intentional portfolio management and comprehensive fundraising strategies.

Build and maintain a healthy major gift pipeline.

Ensure donor experiences support fundraising objectives and deepen long-term relationships.

Lead fundraising strategy for the LBJ Moral Courage Award Dinner and major donor events.

Serve as a senior leader within the Development Department and collaborate across teams.

Supervise the Philanthropic Events Manager.

Partner with Development team members to advance shared fundraising and stewardship goals.

Utilize Altru and Social Good to drive portfolio management and performance.

Achieve annual fundraising goals and grow individual giving revenue.

Ensure consistent portfolio management, staff accountability, and fundraising performance.

Bachelor’s degree - Nonprofit management, communications, business, arts administration, or related degree preferred. 7-10+ years of progressive fundraising/development experience, preferably in a museum, cultural, or nonprofit organization.

Proven success leading individual giving, annual giving, and major gifts programs and achieving fundraising goals.

Demonstrated ability to build and manage a major gift pipeline and grow annual donors into major supporters.

Experience leading donor events, fundraising dinners, sponsorships, and cultivation experiences.

Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing fundraising staff.

Strong experience using CRM systems and fundraising data to manage portfolios, track moves, and measure performance; Strategic fundraising and individual giving.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.

Proficiency with donor databases/CRMs (Altru preferred) and Microsoft Office.

This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, work at a computer, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. Occasional lifting or moving of materials up to 15 pounds may be required. This position operates primarily in a professional office and museum environment. The work environment is generally quiet to moderately busy, with periods of increased activity during peak programming or special events.
