NOW HIRING: ESTIMATOR - HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION
FULL TIME
A construction company is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Estimator with experience in bridge, dam/water, and heavy civil construction projects. This role is responsible for developing accurate bid proposals, performing quantity take-offs, analyzing costs, and supporting the full estimating process from pre-bid through project handoff. Over 40+ years of experience as a heavy civil contractor in New York State. Proven track record of award-winning projects . - Obtain and review contract documents to define scope and risks
Solicit and evaluate material and subcontractor quotations
Break bid items into labor, equipment, and material requirements
Cost Analysis & Risk Management
Maintain and analyze historical cost data
Formulate contingency plans and manage risks impacting cost and schedule
Subcontractor & Compliance Coordination
Evaluate subcontractor needs and review scopes for completeness
Prepare and submit bid documents accurately and on time
Attend pre-bid meetings and travel to project sites as required
Work closely with estimators and project managers on estimating efforts
Assist with post-bid documentation for project award
Coordinate estimating handoff to project management teams
Review completed project performance with project teams
Identify lessons learned to support future estimates and proposals
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or comparable field experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil estimating and/or project management
Experience estimating bridge and/or heavy highway construction projects
Experience estimating projects between $1M and $15M
Working knowledge of heavy civil means and methods, crew composition, and production rates
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe or Bluebeam, and estimating software (e.g., Ready to help engineer what lasts?
