Job Description

Schedule: 3-12 Hour Shifts from 11am-11:30pm; Weekend and holiday requirement

Provides clinical leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality, compassionate patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient education.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess, plan, and implement individualized nursing care for patients presenting with acute and emergent conditions, utilizing evidence-based clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills

Communicate pertinent patient and family information clearly and effectively to interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care delivery

Delegate and supervise nursing tasks and patient care activities to support staff while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes

Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment accurately and timely in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards

Identify variances from established patient care goals and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement effective solutions

Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions to promote understanding and compliance

Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while demonstrating compassion and respect for patients and families during vulnerable moments

Qualifications:

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Michigan State Board of Nursing

Minimum 1+ years of clinical RN experience in an Emergency Department or ICU setting preferred

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Proficiency in nursing process methodology: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to identify and implement solutions for patient care variances
