Together, we have The Energy to Change the World. As a member of the Atlanta Service Center, Machining Department, you will be an active contributor to the Steam Turbine Repair. Our Machinist position is a full-time onsite position at our Chamblee, GA facility. New hires will work our 1st shift work schedule of Monday-Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM ET during training. New hires will move to our 2nd shift work schedule of Monday-Friday 4:10PM - 1:00AM ET after training is complete. Overtime is available but not mandatory. Opportunities to switch shifts is based on business need and customer demand.
Prioritize safety above all else by maintaining a rigorous adherence to safety standards and processes, ensuring that safety risks and issues are identified, reported, and addressed immediately;
Set up and operate a variety of machines performing various machining operations from simple to very complex using both manual and CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machining equipment (including, but not limited to - mills, drills, grinders, lathes, horizontal / vertical bore);
Select and grind tools in accordance with hardness, machine capability, and properties of material to be machined;
Use a variety of associated shop equipment and tooling;
Approach daily work with continuous improvement in mind, working to continuously develop and improve mechanical assembly department practices to reduce cycle time, improve machine availability and efficiency, and lower operating costs.
Associate\'s Degree in a Machining discipline and a minimum of 1 year general machine shop experience in set-up and operation of a variety of manual and CNC machines: including mills, drills, grinders, broaches, turret lathes, horizontal bore, EDM, engine lathes, etc.
High School Diploma/GED with a Machining certification from an accredited university with courses that cover: Mathematics, CNC Milling, CNC Lathes, Print Reading, Machine Tooling, G&M code, FANUC controls, and hands on machine application (i.e. capstone, shop hours) and a minimum of 1 year general machine shop experience in set-up and operation of a variety of manual and CNC machines: including mills, drills, grinders, broaches, turret lathes, horizontal bore, EDM, engine lathes, etc.
High School Diploma / GED with a Journeyman\'s card with completion of a Machining apprentice program and a minimum of 1-year general machine shop experience in set-up and operation of a variety of manual and CNC machines: including mills, drills, grinders, broaches, turret lathes, horizontal bore, EDM, engine lathes, etc.
CNC, M and G code programming experience
Large CNC lathe, Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM), or Large Vertical Boring Mill (VBM) experience
The hourly pay for this position is $26.432 USD per hour.
