Repair and Maintenance Tech - 3rd Shift

Summary Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the scheduled, unscheduled and preventative maintenance and repair of a wide variety of beverage manufacturing and packaging equipment requiring a strong mechanical skills base to include hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, conveyor systems and PLC usage. Completes all work allocated to a high standard having the ability to complete all maintenance tasks across the installed asset base. Regularly observes and discusses equipment performance and makes recommendations for activities to improve this. Promotes and supports the company quality & safety standards, focusing on continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions

Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas (including but not limited to hairnets, belt nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard‑toe and slip/oil‑resistant shoes, appropriate safety gloves, and seatbelts while operating forklifts).

Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per the standard(s) provided by corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (ex. SQF).

Report problems with the FSMS to responsible managerial employees to initiate corrective actions.

Ability to perform and complete repair maintenance, preventive maintenance, and line changeovers.

Able to troubleshoot machinery for malfunctions (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, & pneumatic).

Able to perform maintenance on all production supporting equipment (i.e. glycol system, RO system, Compressed Air system, lubrication systems, chemical distribution systems).

Use innovative thinking when troubleshooting equipment in order to minimize production downtime, assure food safety, product quality and personnel safety.

Complete, document, and retrieve final approvals on all assigned work orders to include recording all utilized part numbers for inventory purposes.

Communicate effectively and completely all relevant maintenance and production related information from shift to relieving shift.

Assist in training other maintenance personnel.

Communicate with production during periods of downtime.

Work collaboratively with all adjacent teams to resolve issues rapidly and drive improvement.

Required Skills

Knowledge of GMPs.

Understanding of Food Safety Requirements.

Must be able to read, understand, and work with machinery blueprints and parts manuals.

Work without supervision.

Must obtain and maintain forklift certification.

Decisive, pro‑active, self‑motivated, and assertive.

Strong interpersonal and developed communication skills.

Data analysis and identification of trends.

Internal customer focus with the ability to adapt to the variable demands of the business.

Ability to demonstrate working under initiative and think things through to solution.

Ability to work under own supervision.

Education and Experience

High school degree or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years previous maintenance experience in manufacturing preferred.

Working Conditions

Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evening, and overnight may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed.

Work Environment: Operating in a fast‑paced production plant with numerous moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection and temperatures can get very hot and/or relatively cold.

Travel Requirements

May be minimal travel required as needed for training.

Physical Requirements

Ergonomic demands including stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, carrying weight, lifting, walking, driving, climbing stairs or ladders, and balancing – frequencies are Rarely (0‑15 %), Occasionally (16‑45 %), Frequently (46‑100 %).

Required visual/sensory attention, coordination and dexterity for precise control of equipment.

Mental stress with pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
