Under the direction of the Associate Director, Housing Facilities, the custodian will provide various custodian and housekeeping support services for on and off Housing, Residential Life & Auxiliaries (HRLAs) complexes. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall cleanliness of assigned building, floors, facilities, foyers, stairwells, including but not limited to cleaning student rooms, common areas, lounges, kitchens and hallways; strip and wax floors; clean windows; move furniture from one area to another; wash concrete areas outside of the buildings, execute the delivery and pickup of guest-requested items to and from guest rooms, maintain carts and manage constant supply of clean linens for Summer Conference programs, ensuring closets are fully stocked and remove trash and dirty linens including cleaning and care of flooring (e.g. carpet, tile, etc.) high dusting, edging, scrubbing, cleaning of desks, and perform other related duties as required.

Tasks are expected to be performed in accordance with HRLAs expectations of quality customer service. The incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life, retention and graduation rate. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Clean interior common areas, lounges, bathrooms, laundry rooms, apartments, offices, living rooms, students' rooms, hallways, and classrooms, building windows.
Restorative Cleaning: polish faucets and brass plates.
Housekeeping Summer Conference, Conferences, & The Pointe: Must be willing to work in any areas controlled by Housing and Residential Life such as but not limited to perform Pointe setups, Housing Office, and any of the colleges (Beachside, Hillside, Parkside, etc.).
Customer Service & Teamwork: Incumbent to provide excellent customer service to the residents, staff, and Campus community.

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3,461 (Step #1) - $3,747 (Step #5) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Ability to provide excellent customer service to the Campus community, vendors, and other outside agencies. Skill in performing customer service in a polite and timely fashion: ability to identify what customer needs and reroute him/her to the correct department; ability to relay customer requests and complaints accurately and appropriately; Provide timely custodial services, including lifting, moving, and transporting chemicals and or equipment, within buildings and work assignments throughout HRLA, required.

Ability to read labels on cleaning solutions, written directions and work schedules required. Skill in operating a variety of industrial and custodial equipment including buffers, waxers, scrubbers, polishers, mop, brooms, and or vacuum cleaners required. Ability to properly use and monitor supply of equipment and supplies, required. Working knowledge of carpet and floor care techniques can be trained. Ability to work overtime, holidays, evenings, or weekends assigned in order to meet operational needs. Ability to maintain proper inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, amenities and other items. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
