Elementary Teacher Full Time

Martha School in Okemos is seeking a full-time Elementary Teacher.

The elementary teacher will create a safe, engaging, and faith-filled classroom where students are encouraged to grow in knowledge, virtue, and confidence. Through high-quality instruction, meaningful relationships, and collaboration with colleagues and families, the teacher will inspire a love of learning while supporting each student’s unique needs and helping cultivate a school culture rooted in faith, kindness, service, and belonging.

Integrate faith into daily instruction, classroom interactions, and school activities.

Assess student learning regularly and use data to inform instructional decisions.

Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to meet the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of students.

Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.

Supervise students during assigned duties, including arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch, and other school activities as requested.

Prepare students for and participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and other faith-based celebrations.

Encourage students to develop virtues, demonstrate respect for others, and serve their school, parish, and community.

Utilize instructional technology to enhance teaching, learning, and communication.

Support school events, extracurricular activities, and community-building opportunities as appropriate.

Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.

Comply with all diocesan, state, and school policies, procedures, and professional expectations.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Education

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate issued by the Michigan Department of Education

Eagerness to continuously enrich teaching expertise through engagement in professional development opportunities

Previous experience teaching in a Catholic elementary classroom is preferred.

Practicing Catholic or willingness to actively support and uphold the mission, teachings, and traditions of the Catholic Church.

Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and philosophy of Catholic education while fostering the faith development of students.

Must pass a criminal background check and complete the Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS program.

The Elementary Teacher must be able to perform the physical activities necessary to support a safe and effective learning environment, including standing and walking for extended periods, sitting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

The position requires supervising students in classrooms and outdoor settings, operating standard classroom technology and equipment, communicating effectively with students and adults, and responding promptly to student needs and emergency situations in a fast-paced school environment.
