Mangan Engineering & Automation Specialist is currently seeking a full‑time Structural Engineer to join our team, providing structural engineering services for industrial projects such as oil & gas, factories, power plants, and substations.

Structural engineers are expected to be detail‑oriented, creative, and possess strong problem‑solving skills. This position supports engineering and design efforts by providing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. The engineer works with other structural engineers, designers, and technical disciplines in a team environment.

Responsibilities & Duties

Provide conceptual design of structural supports

Prepare structural calculations and analysis

Perform structural loading calculations per all applicable codes and regulations (ASCE 7, IBC, etc.)

Static analysis

Dynamic analysis

Steel structure and connection design

Foundation and retaining wall design

Substation structure design (ASCE 113, IEEE 693, 605) (preferred)

Provide design sketches for the drafter with AutoCAD

Conduct walk‑downs and site visits of existing facilities

Review existing conditions and as‑built drawings and collect and record data and documentation

Review customer and vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution

Perform structural observation

Execute schedule requirements while maintaining high quality in work product

Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team

Travel up to 25% of the time to customer and project locations to coordinate designs and collect data and information

Provide structural engineering support for overhead transmission line structures, including structure attachments, load‑path development, and foundation reactions (preferred)

Develop and check design criteria and load combinations for transmission structures consistent with ASCE 113 and applicable utility standards (preferred)

Coordinate with line‑design teams to interpret loading inputs/outputs (wind/ice, ruling spans, angles, broken wire, construction loads) and translate them into structure and foundation design requirements (preferred)

Review vendor drawings/submittals for poles, lattice towers, cross‑arms, and line hardware for compliance with project requirements (preferred)

Qualifications & Skills

Experience in structural steel and concrete design

Experience with dynamic analysis (response spectrum, time history, and transient)

Good written and verbal communication skills

Previous related internship experience is a plus but not required

Education & License Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil / structural engineering

Minimum eight years of relevant work experience

PE license required (preferably CA). SE license is preferable

Physical Demands
Must be able to perform site visits, prepare sketches and as‑built drawings, climb ladders and stair platforms, lift or exert up to 10 pounds, and possess good depth perception to judge distances and spatial relationships.
