Position Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs waived and non-waived testing under CLIA supervision, following department SOPs and ensuring accuracy and compliance. They may serve as a general supervisor, overseeing day‑to‑day operations, staff training, QC review, and inventory management under guidance from the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisors.

Essential Functions

Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, reporting, and record maintenance.

Maintain records for proficiency testing samples to mirror patient sample procedures.

Adhere to quality control policies, documenting all QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance.

Apply corrective action policies when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels.

Identify and resolve problems affecting test performance, notifying supervisors as needed.

Document all corrective actions taken for deviations from performance specifications.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Sciences (or equivalent certificate in Clinical Laboratory Sciences).

ASCP Medical Technologist (MLT, MT, MLA, Histologist) certification required.

Laboratory experience of 1‑2 years.

Proficiency with laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, repair, and analytic techniques.

Ability to work independently, evaluate situations, and act appropriately.

Capability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong attention to detail and adherence to written protocols.

Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Professional communication with physicians, hospital staff, employees, and patients.

Basic knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation requirements.

Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $26.63 - $38.70 per hour. Grade: 6. The position offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for career advancement.

Work Schedule
Shift: Evening (7:00‑3:30 pm). Hours: 40 per week. Rotating weekends and holidays required.
