Head of Recruiting & HR

Direct-to-device (D2D) satellite communications company based in Chevy Chase, MD, is seeking a Human Resources Manager.
Job Type : Contract to perm

Chevy Chase, MD, can start hybrid while contractor, but if candidate is converted to direct hire, job will be mostly on-site .

As the organization's first HR hire, the HR Manager will independently own the full HR function, including policies and compliance, the hiring plan and recruiting, onboarding, and the third-party benefits relationship, while partnering closely with the EVP, Operations & Program Management. This role suits an experienced, hands-on HR generalist who is comfortable building infrastructure in a lean, fast-paced environment.

Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook; Build and execute the company's hiring plan in partnership with leadership
Design and run the new hire onboarding program, including coordination with IT/facilities and 30/60/90-day check-ins.
Own BambooHR administration, including employee data integrity, workflows, and HR reporting.
Manage employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations.
Support compensation benchmarking and lead the annual performance review cycle.
Other HR related projects as assigned

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.

• 10+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, including time as a sole or senior HR leader in an organization of similar size (approximately 100-250 employees).
• Experience independently building or overhauling HR policies and employee handbooks.
• Experience managing a broker, PEO, or third-party benefits administrator relationship.
• PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred.
