Buyer / Purchasing Agent
Job Type: Temporary Assignment
Shift: 07:00 AM - 03:30 PM
Familiar with a variety of field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Selects suppliers with Supply Chain Manager based on criteria such as quality certification, capacity analysis, financial analysis, etc....
Determines the method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Expedites the delivery of goods to users.
Requires a bachelor's degree in the area of specialty and at least 4+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Knowledge of MRP systems (Oracle preferred).
The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Project Management - Coordinates projects; Completes projects on time and on budget.
Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Quality Management - Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Diversity - Demonstrates knowledge of EEO policy; Educates others on the value of diversity; Takes independent actions and calculated risks; Asks for and offers help when needed.
Planning/Organizing - Prioritises and plans work activities; Reacts well under pressure; Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
