The Accounting Director serves as the financial engine of our high‑end residential landscaping operations. You will oversee all accounting functions—including job costing for design‑build installations, recurring maintenance billing, seasonal cash reserves, and subcontractor management—while serving as a strategic advisor to the owner.

Job Costing & Margin Analysis: Track labor, materials, and equipment allocation to ensure all commercial and residential projects meet target gross margins. Oversee Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting for large installations.

Cash Flow & Seasonality: Develop rolling forecasts and manage cash reserves to navigate the highly seasonal revenue cycles of the landscaping industry.

Equipment & Fleet Management: Manage the accounting for a large fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment, including depreciation schedules, lease‑vs‑buy analysis, and maintenance overhead allocation.

Financial Reporting & Close: Lead the month‑end and year‑end close processes. Prepare financial statements, budget‑to‑actual variance reports, and division‑level (Maintenance vs. Compliance: Manage sales tax for services versus physical materials.

Manage and optimize our accounting software, QuickBooks Online.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Direct experience in landscaping, construction, or a closely related field‑service industry.

Deep understanding of percentage‑of‑completion accounting and job‑costing methodologies.

Advanced Proficiency in Excel (Pivot tables, dynamic cash flow modeling); proficiency with industry software and QuickBooks.

Highly proactive, comfortable in a fast‑paced environment, and capable of translating financial data into actionable plain‑English advice for non‑financial field supervisors.
