Foster Care Nurse

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members.

Scope

Assess, recognize, and address patients' psychological and physical needs.

Foster quality of care with the best interests of patients and families in mind.

Communicate compassionately and effectively.

Assist in developing individualized treatment plans.

Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines.

Oversee care delivered by LPNs and/or CNAs.

Participate in clinical team conferences.

Follow hospital, regulatory, and professional guidelines, policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

BLS/ACLS required upon hire for Registered Nurse positions at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital.

Education

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.

An ASN/ADN degree must be followed by completion of a BSN within four (4) years of hire, unless the RN has at least fifteen (15) years of proven continuous RN experience in an acute care setting.

In the event of legally protected leave, the period may be extended by a comparable amount of time.

RNs employed at certain supported locations as of specified dates are exempt from the BSN requirement.

Certification

Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.

Current BLS-HCP certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire with prior approval.

ACLS/NRP/PALS certification as appropriate for unit or service.

Hours & Pay

Scheduled weekly hours: 36

Hourly rate: $36.71 – $56.17 (dependent upon experience)
