Volunteers of America is a non-profit human services organization committed to serving people in need, strengthening families, and building communities. VOALA provides a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans- services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. PAY RATE:$32.24 - $33.94 Per Hour

The VOALA Clinical Counsellor shall work in conjunction with the Senior Program Manager and other program staff to provide clinical counseling and crisis intervention to survivors of human trafficking in a comprehensive wrap-around case management approach utilizing a trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally sensitive and survivor-centered model. The Clinical Counselor will establish trust and rapport with survivors of human trafficking, ensuring confidentiality and protection of identity within confines of the law.
Trauma-Informed Care, Positive Youth Development, Ending the Game, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, and Harm Reduction
Conduct individual and group clinical counseling with children of survivors, as needed
Provide active support and advocacy to ensure supportive services for victims and their children are secured, as indicated in the ISPs
Participate and assist with community awareness events, including providing survivor awareness and identification training to law enforcement, FBOs and CBOs
Maintain and build partnerships and coalitions with other community and government agencies providing relief to human trafficking survivors
Participate with other staff on a rotating schedule to provide an immediate, sensitive response for survivors on a 24/7 basis, including coordination with law enforcement
Services for this position must be provided on-site. As a result, the position requires incumbents to report to work on-site each day of active employment.

Assists in conducting evidence-based training for staff on an ongoing basis.
As service providers to the underprivileged and vulnerable in our community, all employees are considered Mandated Reporters, and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to proper authorities.
Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs which may include clients with homelessness, mental-illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration and other challenges.
Master-s Degree(Social Work, Social Services, public administration, public health or related field)

Minimum total 3 years of counselling experience working with trauma-informed care to homeless or vulnerable youth.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
