Medical Receptionist / Front Desk Support

Job Description An established specialty medical practice in the Plano/Frisco area is seeking a professional and dependable Medical Receptionist to join its team.
This position is primarily focused on answering and managing patient phone calls, with additional front-desk responsibilities and occasional light clinical support when needed. The ideal candidate has experience working in a busy medical office, is comfortable handling multiple phone lines, communicates professionally with patients, and works well as part of a collaborative team.
The position rotates between the practice’s Plano and Frisco locations:
Monday and Wednesday in Plano
Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in Frisco

Responsibilities
Answer and manage incoming phone calls in a professional and timely manner
Schedule patient appointments
Route calls and patient messages appropriately
Review and manage assigned Athena messages and work queues
Assist with patient check-in and check-out as needed
Maintain accurate patient demographic and insurance information
Receive and route incoming faxes and medical documentation
Assist with referrals and patient records
Help ensure charts and required documentation are ready for patient visits
Provide backup front-desk support
Occasionally assist with light clinical duties such as rooming patients, basic intake, or preparing rooms when needed
Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, medical assistants, and office staff
Maintain patient confidentiality and a professional, patient-focused attitude
Support coworkers and assist with office needs as necessary
Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–3 years of medical-office experience preferred
• Experience working in a busy front-desk or patient-facing environment
• Experience managing multiple phone lines
• Strong professional telephone communication skills
• Athena / athenahealth experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
• Basic knowledge of medications is helpful
• Strong computer and data-entry skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Dependable, positive, and team-oriented attitude
