Position OverviewAs a Commodity Buyer, you will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of your assigned commodities while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability and ensuring that supply base meets cost, quality, launch and delivery commitmentsMain ResponsibilitiesLeads full sourcing process with activities as RFQ/RFI, technical reviews and obtain Council approval for new business awards.Manages supplier commercial issues.Ensures compliance to GSM Policies and Procedures.Establishes annual material budget and performs monthly budget analysis.Works with suppliers and Nexteer resources to identify, develop and implement material cost savings.Develop new suppliers/disruptors to properly support the needs of each product lineNegotiate, implement and maintain up to date prices per material contracts with supply base in alignment with customer agreements.Job RequirementsHave a 4yr University degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or any other relevant field3+ years of experience in the automotive industry in purchasing of direct material.Experience in commodity purchasing like Forgings, Driveline, Stampings, Rubber, PlasticsAble to function independently with minimal supervision & technical guidance.Working knowledge of MS office.Ability to read blueprints and understand basic engineering documents.Strong knowledge of the specific commodities, materials, and products being purchased.High analytical ability in complex situations with a strong knowledge of Purchasing strategies & skillsMust be able to travel up to 15%
