Head of Facilities (Full-Time)

Employment Type: Full-Time/exempt
Compensation: $45,000-$55,000
The Facilities Manager ensures the optimal operation, safety, and appearance of Arts Bonita’s two campuses — the Performing Arts Center and the Visual Arts Center . This hands‑on leadership role oversees all aspects of maintenance, repairs, and campus presentation, with a primary focus on the Performing Arts Center.
The Facilities Manager leads the facilities team , coordinates contractors, and develops a preventive maintenance schedule that keeps both campuses running smoothly and looking their best. The ideal candidate combines practical maintenance skills with strong management, organization, and communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities Facilities Operations & Maintenance Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule for all systems and buildings.
Oversee HVAC systems , including regular inspections, filter replacements, and vendor coordination for servicing and repairs.
Manage roofing needs , including inspections, leak prevention, and contractor coordination.
Perform or delegate minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs .
Ensure the appearance, cleanliness, and functionality of all buildings through proactive maintenance and attention to detail.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests, safety issues, and urgent facility concerns.
Performing Arts Center (Primary Focus) Oversee daily operations of Hinman (400-seat) and Moe (200-seat) auditoriums, including lighting, HVAC, seating, and backstage areas.
Coordinate seating conversions between auditorium and cabaret‑style layouts.
Manage and assist with event setup and breakdown , including staging, risers, furniture moves, and configurations.
Conduct pre‑ and post‑event walkthroughs to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
Visual Arts Center Supervise maintenance and readiness of classrooms, galleries, studios, offices, and common areas.
Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and facility improvements as needed.
Ensure all spaces are clean, safe, and fully functional for programs and events.
Grounds, Roofing & Exterior Maintenance Oversee landscaping, tree trimming, irrigation systems, parking areas, signage, and exterior lighting .
Maintain roofing systems , ensuring timely inspections and repairs.
Ensure both campuses reflect Arts Bonita’s professional and welcoming image through regular painting, pressure washing, debris removal, and aesthetic upkeep .
Manage exterior vendors for specialized maintenance and seasonal improvements.
Lead, schedule, and supervise the facilities team , including maintenance staff and custodial support.
Assign daily tasks, set priorities, and ensure timely completion of work orders.
Maintain maintenance logs, vendor lists, service records, and supply inventories.
Schedule and supervise outside contractors and vendors.
Track facility budgets, monitor expenses, and recommend cost‑saving measures.
Foster a safe, efficient, and team‑oriented work environment.
Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all building, safety, and accessibility codes.
Coordinate inspections and maintenance for:
Fire alarms and extinguishers
HVAC and electrical systems
Elevators and emergency lighting
ADA and safety signage
Maintain accurate records of all inspections, permits, and vendor servicing.
Qualifications Proven experience in facility or building management , ideally in a performing arts, educational, or multi‑site environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Working knowledge of HVAC, roofing, electrical, plumbing, and building systems .
Experience developing and executing preventive maintenance schedules.
Hands‑on repair and maintenance capabilities.
Understanding of safety regulations, compliance standards, and permitting.
Ability to lift 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical maintenance tasks.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
