Registered Nurse (RN) - Trauma
Position Overview
This role requires an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Trauma care. The nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients in a fast-paced environment, focusing on those with trauma from various causes such as accidents, abuse, or surgical interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care to trauma patients with various diagnoses.
Administer medications, including blood products, insulin, and manage PCA pumps.
Perform advanced procedures, including phlebotomy, IV starts, wound care, and care of surgical drains and chest tubes.
Utilize special equipment such as lifts, restraints, and wound vacs.
Interpret EKGs and manage dysrhythmias as required.
Float within the scope of practice to meet facility needs.
Work Schedule
This position offers flexibility of scheduling with options to work 36 or 48 hours per week. It involves night shifts of 12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30. Weekend shifts are required every other week.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of RN experience required.
Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS.
Relias EKG exam must be passed to confirm competency in ECG interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
Experience with trauma cases, including Level 1 trauma management, is preferred.
Additional Information
RTO restrictions apply: no more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract.
Guaranteed hours are offered during the contract period.
Local candidates are accepted with a radius restriction of 75 miles.
Pending licenses are accepted for qualified candidates.

Patient Population
The nurse will work with a diverse patient population, including geriatric trauma patients and individuals with acute care surgery needs. Familiarity with managing various trauma situations, including falls, motor vehicle accidents, and surgical interventions is essential.
Unit Services
The unit provides specialized trauma care services and treatments, addressing both physical and emotional needs of patients recovering from traumatic events.
Charting and Parking
Charting is conducted using the EPIC system. Parking options are available for travelers, including monthly passes and day parking for orientation. Specific parking information will be provided upon assignment.
