Administrative Assistant
The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE) is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant to complete our Program Operations team. The successful applicant will be trained to work in one or more specialized areas related to the administration and servicing of financial aid programs, such as; maintaining borrower accounts, administering garnishment and lien actions, administering the Alaska Performance Scholarship and the Alaska Education Grant, or serving as a liaison to financial aid staff, schools, and other sections within ACPE. They will actively support the agency's values: Service, Innovation, Empowerment, Quality and Accountability.

ACPE is the State's postsecondary education agency, promoting access to, and success in, education and career training after high school. Our Juneau office is conveniently located in the Vintage Business Park area of Mendenhall Valley, close to the bus line, with plenty of available parking. Positions with the Commission are eligible for all State of Alaska health care, leave and retirement benefits.
The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Basic bookkeeping or accounting
Ability to read, interpret, and explain policies, procedures, and legal documents
Experience working with confidential information and documents
Ability to create and process documentation
Proficiency in MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and SharePoint)
Minimum qualifications include:
High school diploma or the equivalent; and six months of entry-level technical experience in one of more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement. This experience includes work such as Administrative Assistant 1, Accounting Technician 1, Human Resource Technician 1, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
OR one year of advanced-level clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
OR one year of post-secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours equals 1 year)
OR one year of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or 4 quarter hours or post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)
