Counselor - Bachelors

Position Overview

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor needed at Health Care Resource Centers. The counselor assists patients through medically assisted programs, offers techniques for managing opioid addiction, conducts group and individual sessions for crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates progress, and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and therapists to ensure optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities

Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews to determine service eligibility.

Facilitate, establish, and review each patient’s treatment plan.

Complete bio‑psychosocial assessment.

Involve families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process whenever possible.

Develop and participate in individual or group teaching projects.

Perform other related duties as determined by supervisor.

Qualifications

Must hold a CADC or LADC in the state of Maine.

Minimum: High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a social or health services field.

Experience with chemically dependent individuals is a positive factor.

Certification required: CADC or LADC.

Ability to maintain a positive, non‑judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population.

Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
