ICU Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking a dedicated ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in an intensive care unit setting.Unit InformationUnit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)Number of Beds: 32 private roomsPatient Ratios: 1:2, with 1:1 for high acuity casesElectronic Medical Record (EMR): CernerWeekend Requirement: Every other weekendHolidays: Required for 2 out of 3 holidaysScrub Color: NavyShifts and SchedulingShift Length: 12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekSchedule: Night shifts with self-scheduling flexibility; travelers will coordinate with the shift manager for schedulingFloating: Possible to Telemetry or Emergency Room for holds (rare)QualificationsYears of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICUTravel Experience: At least 1 year requiredCertifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)LA City Fire & Safety CertificationNIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)Preferred Certifications: Basic EKG and dysrhythmia coursePharmacologyTNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)Patient Care ResponsibilitiesAs an ICU Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care for critically ill patients. Common diagnoses and patient types include:Trauma and gunshot wounds (GSW)Severe head traumaCoronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) managementCongestive Heart Failure (CHF)Gastrointestinal (GI) BleedsDiabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)Stroke (including TPA administration)Long bone fracturesGI surgeriesMajor transfusionsTitration of critical drips, including Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and TPASupport ServicesRespiratory Therapy: Available 24/7Pharmacy: Available 24/7Additional NotesCandidates should possess strong self-confidence and readiness for a fast-paced environment. Experience with sheath pulling and bedside reporting is preferred. Familiarity with prophylactic bundles for stroke and cardiac patients, as well as bundles addressing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), delirium management, and overall patient mobility in the ICU, will be beneficial.Location: City and State
